Know Anything About this Story?

(I remember reading this story when I was a kid. Recently, I read somewhere that this is a very old and a famous one. I forgot where. And when Google proved of little help, curiousity got the better of me. Have you read this story somewhere? If so, who is its author? What is the title of the story? Let me know in the comments section. Thanks.)
The story goes like this:
A girl and her brother are driving through an unfamiliar place. Because something happens to their car or something, they go to a nearby house; but a local old man warns them against doing so. He says that the house is haunted. The girl, an aspiring journalist, is excited and decides to go into the house. The brother reluctantly accompanies her. They see no ghost in there, but the boy is frightened momentarily by a skeleton (which turns to be a plastic replica) that he finds inside a refrigerator. While exploring the house, they accidentally discover a secret drug dungeon. Suddenly, the local man (who earlier told them to not go into the house) appears, holding a gun. He reveals that he has been using the house for drug trade and that the haunting story was just a ploy he used to keep people away from there. He ties them up, and then tells them that the gun he used was just a toy gun. The boy unties himself while the man is not looking, and he holds the old man up, telling him that he has got a real gun. After the girl is also freed and they tie the man up, the boy reveals that the "gun" was actually a bone he earlier removed from the plastic skeleton. They hand the drug dealer over to the police, and get a huge reward.
